Do you want to work within a friendly team?  Do you want to work within a company that really looks after their staff?  Our client is a highly reputable and forward thinking FMCG organisation based in Coventry.  95% of their staff have been in employment for over 10 years and due to expansion, they are now seeking to recruit a experienced Assistant Management Accountant!

Duties will include:

Assisting with the preparation of Management Accounts (prepayments, accruals, journals, able to identify and correct posting errors across key ledgers).

Calculating and processing of Supplier Recharge Invoices.

Analysis of promotional performance and reporting the results to the commercial department.

Periodic review of product / category financial performance.

Analyse and process expense claims ensuring the claims are correctly coded and within the company guidelines.

Coding & processing of purchase invoices.

Bank reconciliations including processing direct debits and standing orders.

Processing payments to domestic and international suppliers.

Completing and submitting quarterly VAT returns.

Provide information and assist during the external audit and carry out internal audits in line with our Quality Management System.

Adherence to the Company’s Quality Management System and financial controls and policies to ensure that all work is handled securely, professionally and diligently and in line with company policies and audit standards.

Assist with Ad-hoc duties, data requests and projects which may be required throughout the year.

Skills & Experience

Experience of transactional accounting activities including exposure to balance sheet, accruals, prepayments and journals.

Good organisational skills with ability to multi-task ensuring that all deadlines are met.

Excellent IT literacy, with intermediate Microsoft Excel Skills (pivot tables & data lookups).

Strong attention to detail meaning processing errors are avoided.

Be able to manage own workflow, bearing in mind the company deadlines.

Willing to get stuck in: a can do attitude with the ability to learn on the job & use their initiative.


Basic knowledge of VAT and its applications would be advantageous

A continuous improvement mindset. Identifying opportunities, creating new efficiencies to reduce month end timescales.
