We are currently recruiting for an experienced Business Development Manager to join a FSTE 100 company based in Coventry.

At the forefront of the business, the role of the Business Development Manager offers a varied, challenging and rewarding opportunity to work closely with their Defence and Security clients and key stakeholders.

This company’s Operations Defence and Security business sector is seeking a Business Development/Account Manager to support the continued growth of the company’s presence within the Defence and Security sectors. The successful candidate, working closely with the Senior Business Development Manager, will be responsible for developing new and existing business and managing client accounts. The successful candidate will be a technically astute, experienced sales or account manager with a track record working with large businesses (preferably in the Defence sector). The role will include travel across the UK from time to time. The D&S Business Sector is looking for someone with a vibrant personality who can build rapport with clients quickly and who, through strong organisation skills is able to make a significant contribution to the business development team.

Personal Characteristics will include:

Organisation skills, ability to relate to all levels of an organisation, capable public speaker, team player, ideally with an established network within the Defence and Security sector and able to work on sensitive projects if needed.

Responsibilities will include:

*Achieves sales objectives relating to growth and overall profitability as defined by the business sector.

*Working with Engineering Themes to prepare the sales propositions for each Technology Group and Theme and support in commercial matters

*Works closely with the other stakeholders and engineering teams to ensure delivery of projects on time, in full and to customer satisfaction.

*Providing accurate forecasts to pipeline activities, reflecting customer’s needs, wants and changes.

*Ensures that core values and established best practice is adopted within the Team.

*Provides adequate level of reporting to Senior Business Development Manager and to the wider Business Sector.

*Writing bids and proposals

*Supporting the sector Senior BDM as required

*Opening up new opportunities within frameworks and collaborative bids.

*Operates in accordance with company policies and procedures

*Work with the D&S Business Sector team to define and establishes a strategy for conquering markets, in terms of service offering/market positioning, promotion initiatives, value proposition and partnerships.

*Managing the flow of opportunities through the business

Desired Qualifications

Degree in a technical discipline, masters’ level preferred.
