- Double check hours worked; any amendments should be authorised
- Ensure that your timesheet is signed by an authorised person
- The original timesheet must be returned to your Hamlin Knight office no later than 10.00am on the Monday following the week you worked
- Click here to download a blank timesheet
Payroll

Holiday Pay
Entitlement
- The paid annual leave entitlement is 24 days per annum
- Annual leave entitlement during the first year builds up monthly in advance at the rate of one-twelfth of the annual entitlement each month. Where this calculation does not result in an exact number of days, the amount of leave which may be taken is rounded up to the next half day
- Paid leave accrues in proportion to the amount of time worked continuously during the leave year
- The amount of holiday pay is based on the average amount earned over the past 12 weeks or actual number of weeks if requesting holiday prior to 12 weeks. We calculate this per week by taking average hours worked x average rate per hour (excluding overtime)
Holiday Year
- The holiday year is January to December
- Bank Holidays are not paid, unless you have accrued a day’s holiday pay and request it to be paid for the Bank Holiday
- Untaken paid leave cannot be carried over into the next holiday year
Taking Paid Annual Leave
- If you want to take paid leave, you must request this in writing, using the Paid Annual Leave Request form provided
- You must give notice of taking paid leave that is twice the period you wish to take off, eg to take off one week’s paid leave, you should give two week’s notice
- Paid leave can only be taken in half and whole days
- You cannot be paid your holiday pay and work at the same time. The point of the WTR is to protect the Health & Safety of workers, so the requirement for paid leave is to ensure that people can afford to take time off work for rest
National Insurance
Only one National Insurance number is allocated to you and you keep that same number all your life. It is unique to you and ensures we correctly credit and record National Insurance contributions (NICs)
If you do not have an NI number, you will need to contact your local Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) office to apply for one. However, if you do not have an NI number when you start temping for Hamlin Knight, your date of birth is sufficient until you obtain one from the DWP
Tax Documentation
P45
Please ensure that you get your P45 from your previous employer. The information on your P45 will ensure that you are paying the correct tax and will allow our Payroll Department to inform the Inland Revenue that you are now working through Hamlin Knight. If you do not have a P45, you may have to pay more tax temporarily. If this is the case, you will need to complete a P46
P46
A P46 should only be completed if you do not have a P45. By completing a P46 you will not have to pay basic rate tax. It also allows us inform the Inland Revenue that you are now working through Hamlin Knight
P60
This is sent to you at the end of each tax year. It shows how much you have earned throughout the tax year and how much tax and NI you have paid. You will only receive one copy of this document each year and it will be sent to you by whoever your employer is as the end of the tax year.
